Full Review

Black Opium Le Parfum is what happens when YSL decides subtlety is overrated. This is the full-strength version of their blockbuster coffee gourmand, and it comes out swinging with enough projection to clear elevators. The opening hits you with espresso so realistic you'll check if someone's brewing coffee nearby, backed by pink pepper that adds just enough bite to keep things interesting. The vanilla and white florals in the heart create this creamy, almost narcotic sweetness that's pure addiction in a bottle. What separates Le Parfum from the original EDP isn't just strength—it's density. Every note feels thicker, richer, more concentrated. The patchouli and cedar base provides enough woody backbone to prevent this from going full dessert, but make no mistake: this leans gourmand hard. Performance is absolutely ridiculous—we're talking 10-12 hours of legitimate projection, with the dry-down clinging to skin for 24+ hours. Two sprays will have coworkers asking about your fragrance from across the office. It's the kind of beast-mode performance that fragrance addicts love and normal people find overwhelming. At $150+ for 90ml, it's not cheap, but the concentration justifies the price jump from the EDP. This isn't an everyday fragrance unless you work from home or love being the person everyone smells coming. Sample first—Le Parfum doesn't do subtlety.
