Full Review

Hacivat is the fragrance that put Turkish house Nishane on the global map, and for good reason. This isn't your typical fresh fragrance — it's a masterclass in sophisticated composition that balances juicy pineapple with deep woody undertones in a way that feels both familiar and completely unique. The opening hits with that signature pineapple note, but it's not the cloying sweetness of Aventus clones. Instead, it's tart and realistic, supported by grapefruit and bergamot that keep things crisp.

What sets Hacivat apart is its incredible depth and evolution. As the pineapple settles, you get this gorgeous interplay of woods — cedar, sandalwood, and a touch of oakmoss that gives it an almost vintage feel. The jasmine in the heart adds just enough floralcy to keep it interesting without making it feminine. This is a fragrance that reveals new facets throughout its 8-10 hour lifespan, with moderate to strong projection that fills a room without being obnoxious.

The performance is where Hacivat truly shines. You'll get a solid 2-3 hours of strong projection followed by 6-8 hours of excellent longevity that sits close to the skin. It's beast mode without being a headache inducer. The dry-down settles into this gorgeous woody-musky base that's absolutely addictive.

At $165-200 for 100ml, it's not cheap, but the quality justifies the price. This is what niche should be — distinctive, well-crafted, and memorable. The only real downside is availability and the fact that it's become somewhat hyped, leading to occasional batch variations. Still, when it's good, it's phenomenal.

Sophisticated Pineapple That Actually Works

This works. Here's why: Hacivat takes the tired pineapple-woods combination and makes it feel like a $200 fragrance should. I wore this to a gallery opening in SoHo last month and got three separate comments about how 'expensive' I smelled. The pineapple here isn't Malibu rum — it's tart, almost savory, backed by serious cedar and oakmoss that keeps it grounded. Performance is relentless: 9+ hours on my skin, projecting a solid 4 feet for the first three hours.

Let me be clear: this isn't for summer unless you have serious air conditioning. I tested it during an August heat wave and nearly gassed out my Uber driver. But fall through spring? Perfect. The jasmine and rose in the heart keep it from going full masculine, while the sandalwood base makes it sophisticated enough for client dinners. My yia-yia would call this 'serious perfume' — the kind you save for important occasions.

The only real issue is the price point. $180 for 100ml puts it in Creed territory, and the bottle is honestly nothing special. But if you're looking for a pineapple fragrance that doesn't scream 'pool party,' this is your answer. I've gone through half my bottle in six months, which tells you everything about how often I reach for it.

Pros

  • + 9+ hours longevity with serious projection
  • + Sophisticated pineapple that reads expensive
  • + Complex evolution from citrus to woody

Cons

  • - $180 price point for standard packaging
  • - Overwhelming in temperatures above 75 degrees

Pineapple That Actually Works (Finally)

Look, I've smelled enough "tropical sophistication" briefs to know they usually end up smelling like a Wetherspoons cocktail. Hacivat? This is how you do pineapple without making grown men smell like they're on a gap year in Thailand. The opening genuinely made me stop what I was doing — that pineapple note has weight to it, proper substance, not the usual synthetic nonsense that screams "beach party" from three postcodes away.

I wore this to a client dinner last month (because of course I did, it was the fragrance account) and spent nine hours — nine! — catching whiffs of myself like some sort of narcissistic lunatic. The projection is no joke... I'm talking proper sillage that had the waiter asking what I was wearing. By hour six it had settled into this gorgeous woody-mossy thing that made me feel like I should be smoking cigars in a gentleman's club instead of arguing about banner ad placement.

Here's the thing though — £180 for 100ml is taking the piss a bit, isn't it? And wearing this in summer heat is like turning up to a house party with a full orchestra. Sometimes you want sophisticated complexity, sometimes you just want to not gas everyone on the Tube. But when you want to smell expensive and interesting without trying too hard... genuinely, this delivers the brief.

Pros

  • + Nine hours of proper performance without reapplication
  • + Pineapple that doesn't smell like a student night out
  • + Actually gets better as it develops (rare)

Cons

  • - £180 price tag for what you get
  • - Will clear a small room in July heat
