Full Review

This is what happens when a clone house actually gets it right. Woody Sage captures the refined, clean masculinity of Tom Ford Grey Vetiver without the designer price tag or the disappointing longevity. The opening hits with bright grapefruit and orange blossom that feels expensive and confident — perfect for boardroom presentations or first dates where you need to project competence without trying too hard.

The heart develops into a beautifully balanced sage and nutmeg combo that's herbaceous without being aggressive, spicy without being cloying. This is where Dossier actually improves on the original — the sage note has more presence and longevity than Tom Ford's version, which tends to fade into a whisper after three hours. Here, you get 6-7 hours of solid performance with moderate projection that won't clear rooms but definitely gets noticed.

The vetiver and amberwood base is clean and masculine without falling into the generic woody amber trap that plagues so many budget fragrances. It's sophisticated enough for a 40-year-old executive but approachable enough for a college student. At $35-49, this is one of the few times where the clone actually outperforms the original in the metrics that matter most — longevity and value.

The only real weakness is projection — it sits closer to the skin than some guys prefer, especially in the dry-down. But for office wear and close encounters, that's actually a feature, not a bug. This is refined masculinity for guys who understand that confidence doesn't need to announce itself from across the room.
